CESD BOARD OF EDUCATION
The Centralia Elementary School District Board of Education, compromised of five trustees (four year terms), is the governing body of the District, which acts during legally constituted meetings in which a quorum of the Board is present. It derived its power from the Constitution and Statutes of the State of California. The government of the school is vested in the Board of Education and it represents the people of the District.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Board*
The role of the school board is to ensure that our school district is responsive to the values, beliefs, and priorities of our community.
The Board fulfills this role by performing five major responsibilities:
- Setting direction
- Establishing an effective and efficient structure
- Providing support
- Ensuring accountability
- Providing community leadership as advocates for children, the school district and public schools.
The Board has complete jurisdiction over the district, its programs, employees, pupils, building sites, and equipment. Board members occupy unique roles because they are also community members and in unique cases, parents. This unique status causes Board Members to have a special responsibility when they are acting as citizens or community members because their elected position carries a great deal of prestige and visibility.
Board Trustees are elected by the public to work with the Superintendent for the best educational interest of all its students.
The Board meets regualary at 5:30PM, usually on the second Wednesday of each month. This schedule can vary during the summer and holidays. Meetings are currently being held via Zoom for the public. The link can be found on the current agenda page. For more information, please call (714) 228-3100.
