This is a very special SHOUT OUT to the Paningsoro Family

THANK YOU...Mary, Michael, and Mr. President...Dillon

For the past two Fridays they have raised $190.00 through snack sales for a student that could not afford to go to 6th grade camp. Because of the efforts of the Paningsoro Family the 6th grader will be able to enjoy camp!

Dillon also took it upon himself to sell extra Carl's Jr. booklets to raise an additional $25.00.  The Paningsoros have BIG hearts, and they have always been so good to our school.  Thank you for being YOU!

Food Allergy Information

Dear Parents:

You've all read the headlines and seen the news stories: food allergies are a growing concern in schools across America. Millions of children - children who are perfectly healthy and normal in every other way - must watch every single bite they eat, or risk suffering a severe or even life threatening reaction. In fact, food allergies claim an estimated 150 lives and are responsible for more than 125,000 emergency room visits each year. A major health issue such as this must be taken very seriously, and it has always been the policy of this school to make the safety and well-being of our students our top priority.

A student in your child's class may have a serious peanut allergy - the food allergy that claims more lives each year than any other. A child with a serious peanut allergy can suffer a reaction merely by touching a peanut-containing food. Therefore, we are putting the following safety guidelines into effect:

Dear Parents, Beginning August 31, we will be expanding the use of our technology in the Food Services Department. Below are some changes that will take place:

• Students will be using a four digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) to purchase their meals. This will enable us to maintain accurate records for those students who make any purchase in the cafeteria. Your child will need to memorize their 4 digit PIN #

• You will receive an automated phone call when your child's account is low and/or your child has incurred a negative balance.

• Money will no longer be collected in the classroom. Students in grades 1-6 will be responsible for keeping their money until lunch time and will pay in the cafeteria. We recommend that parents take advantage of the pre-pay option that is available. The pre-payment drop box can be found in the main office. Please use the pre-payment envelopes available at the drop box.

Thank you, Mrs. Test

Please see the attached memo regarding our new policy on negative balances.

+++++++++++ SAFETY FIRST ++++++++++++

Dear Parents:

Your child’s safety is Los Coyotes staff’s primary concern. To insure that all our students are safe, there must be a standard set of rules that we all must follow. Working together as a team, we will be able to keep your children safe.

The school rules concerning the arrival and dismissal of all Los Coyotes’ students are:
• All Students must sit on the lunch benches prior to the first bell at 8 a.m. and following dismissal. No child is allowed on the playground equipment after school.
• Parents wishing to speak to their child or the child’s teacher must sign in at the office. Please do not go directly to the classroom.
• The staff parking lot is for staff only. Please do not drive through the lot to drop off or pick up your child.
• Use the valet parking zone to drop off or pick up your child. Please follow the directions of our Valet Patrol. They are wonderful volunteers who are concerned about your child’s safety.
• Any adults on campus must have a visitor’s pass.
• Remember that our upper grade students are still in class after the primary students are dismissed. Please do not wait for your children in the playground area.

If you have any further suggestions for improving our school, please be sure to let me know.

Thank you for helping to make Los Coyotes a safe and pleasant place for children.

Yours truly,

Mrs. L. Test
Principal

****************P-R-I-D-E**************
Our school wide behavior program was created to encourage good behavior through positive incentives. "Fun Fridays", the "Golden Lunch Box", The "Pride Stick", and Pride Cards are just a few of the rewards.

Students are encouraged to be responsible for the choices they make, and the consequences which follow. At Los Coyotes we have adopted P.R.I.D.E. as our school wide behavior agreement.

We demonstrate PRIDE:

Positive
Respectful
Integrity
Dependable
Excellence

We welcome and encourage your visits to your child's classroom. This is a great way to know what your child is learning and how instruction is presented. It helps parents to understand how to better able support their children on homework and with important attention and behavior skills that ensure a successful learning experience.

Our District has established specific guidelines for parent observations. Please read through these procedures, and of course if you have any questions, contact Dr. Test.

Parent Observation/Visitation Procedures

1.Call in advance to make arrangements with the teacher to visit your child's classroom.

2.Visitations will be limited to 30 minutes by one parent no more than one time per month.

3.You must sign in at the office and wear a visitor's badge during the course of your visitation. You then must sign out at the conclusion of your visitation.

4.These visitation procedures are put in place to minimize disruption to the instructional program for all of the children in the classroom.
