Classroom Expectations

The goal of the Centralia School District is to maintain a safe, clean and secure environment that will optimize the learning experience for students and staff. To assist in accomplishing this goal, the District has the following expectations of students and staff:
  1. Have pride in the appearance of the classroom; treat the classroom with respect.
  2. Animals are not allowed in classrooms (except as provided for in Board Policy 6163.2).
  3. Empty and clean sinks – no plants, paints, sand, etc., left in the sink.
  4. Gum not allowed in the classroom.
  5. Allow no food or beverages in the classroom (K-6 regular ed) except as approved by the Principal. Any food trash must be disposed of properly.
  6. Wipe up spills immediately – if spills require more attention, contact custodian immediately to prevent spills from settling into carpet.
  7. Supervise student cleanup of craft materials; areas should be left clean.
  8. Don’t use tape on carpet.
  9. Don’t tape or staple student work on painted surfaces, doors, glass, cabinetry or fire doors – only use tackable wall surface provided.
  10. Don’t place or hang anything from drop ceiling.
  11. Immediately report all safety issues to the School Office Manager.
  12. Leave light switches in the “ON” position.
  13. Keep no refrigerators, heaters, fans, microwaves or toaster ovens except as approved by the Principal.
  14. Maintain 3 square feet of clearance around fire extinguisher, electrical panels and IDF (Intermediate Data Frame) cabinets.
At the end of the day, when leaving classrooms, please:
  • Lock windows and doors.
  • Clear counters of unsafe objects.
  • Dispose of any food trash.
  • Have students pick up all litter and debris around desk and dispose in trashcans and place chairs on top of desks.
  • Turn off air conditioner/heater.
