Centralia Elementary School District

Disaster Drill October 19th at 9am

At 9 a.m. on October 19, 2017, Centralia will join millions of Californians in “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” during The Great California ShakeOut, the state’s largest earthquake drill ever! All K-12 schools and districts are encouraged to participate in the drill. Centralia will be holding a district wide drill at all school sites.

The goal of ShakeOut is to encourage people and organizations to be prepared for a natural disaster and to recover quickly when the next big earthquake happens. ShakeOut began in Southern California in 2008. Since then ShakeOut has grown to include participation across the United States and several other countries. More than 55 million people worldwide participated in 2016.

When the drill begins at 9:00 a.m., please note that phones and office staff will be in "recovery mode". We ask that parents follow our District twitter account and Facebook page for updates on when the drill has concluded.

Centralia is dedicated to student and staff safety and by practicing for major events, we are definitely being #CESDPrepared.
